After completing this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the evolution of high-performance translucent materials and how they play an important role in today’s world by looking at the use of durable resins and glass in the A&D and automotive industries.
2. Understand several material properties including abrasion resistance, flexural performance, chemical resistance, optical clarity, and surface texture, and how they compare across each translucent material type.
3. Understand performance characteristics including weight, formability, service temperature, UV exposure, flammability, expansion/contraction, tensile and impact strength, and how they play a role in selecting the best material for different applications.
4. Understand manufacturing transparency and material ingredient health through life-cycle analyses, public reporting, and certifications as a means to protect and restore our environment and improve human
